OLAP Celebrates Its 67th Parochial Feast and Hosts Br. Jong’s First Triennial Profession

Caburan, Jose Abad Santos – On the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (OLAP) joyfully celebrates its 67th parochial feast. The eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Frederick Parantar, DCD, Vicar General of the Diocese of Digos. He was concelebrated by guest priests coming from the neighboring parish of Sto. Niño Parish, Nuing and the priests assigned in OLAP. The celebration was also graced by the presence of the Delegation Council headed by Fr. Marvin Tadena, PSDP, Delegate Superior.
Before the eucharistic celebration started, members of the Indigenous People’s (IP) community performed their sacred ritual, known as ‘dugso,’ a ceremonial dance performed by women wearing ankle bells around a fire to give thanks and entertain deities. Then, after performing this ritual, the assembly proceeded to the covered court of Holy Cross of Caburan, Inc., for the eucharistic celebration.
One of the important moments during the mass was the First Triennial Profession of Br. Ardiomer “Jong” Amabao, PSDP. This decisive step intensifies his commitment to live more faithfully his religious consecration to the congregation of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence (cf. cons. 119). This significant landmark of his vocation journey was witnessed not only by the parishioners, but also by his family who travelled all the way from Cebu to be in in this special occasion.
After the eucharistic celebration, the community gathered as one in fellowship through a sumptuous meal and a program, set in gratitude, for the wondrous gift of vocation that God gifted Br. Jong.
