In our Congregation, before accepting formally a young aspirant, there is the so called “Zero Year” or “Come and See” program. It is a process by which the candidate, reading his life, is confronted with God’s plan to reach the certainty about his personal vocation, the candidates through the help of the vocation animators will visit the family and meet them at least once a month in the communities to do series of formation of the “Come and See” programs while still studying in the senior high for two years outside the formation house.

This stage of formation is specifically designed for college graduates who desire to know, to experience, to discern and to join the PSDP Congregation within the period of two years with the age limit of 35 years old.

Vocation
Postulant is the one who applies to join the congregation. This period of formation lasts a minimum of two years. It prepares the formandees to the Calabrian Novitiate year. First year Postulancy is done in one specific community together and second year Postulancy will be sent to the communities around the Philippines to let him experience various apostolate of the Calabrians and to purify his motivation to follow the Calabrian way of life.
This is also the time for identification with the Charism and Mission of the congregation of PSDP. In special situation, the Postulancy may be extended for no more than a year, within which the formandee goes to live in other community. The community must help the formandee to grow in his response to God’s call.

The Calabrian novitiate is a period of more intensive initiation and deeper experience of God as well as an experience of communitarian life, for more radical following of Jesus Christ, according to the characteristics of our religious family. This canonical year is important for the novice to be aware of his call to be a PSDP and to form himself according to the genuine and pure spirit of the congregation in order to commit himself to a specific project of life in the church.

Annual Vows is a period of time that follows the first profession till the triennial profession. “The first profession marks the entrance to a totally consecrated life. However, this act is but the beginning of a journey that lasts for the rest of one's life” (Const. # 116).
“The three years immediately after the first profession are spent in communities that are particularly suitable for encouraging the growth of religious virtues, the better assimilation of the Congregation's spirit and the strengthening of fidelity to the Divine call”. (Const. # 7).
