Nazareth Formation House Opens Celebration of the Season of Creation

Calbayog City, Samar – In line with the global observance established by the late Pope Francis in 2015, the Nazareth Formation House community officially opened its celebration of the Season of Creation on September 1, 2026.

The community gathered on the grounds behind the chapel to commence the event. The celebration began with the praying of the Liturgy of the Hours, followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Rev. Fr. Mark Jonnel Magos, PSDP, served as the principal Mass presider, joined by concelebrant Rev. Fr. Kierstin Lamparas, PSDP. In his homily, Fr. Magos highlighted three core points: First, creation is God’s gift. Through it, we are not only able to live, but we also come to know the Creator. Second, we are called to care for creation. The earth in which we live is our common home. If we take care of it, it will take care of us in return. Lastly, we are called to communion with other creatures. Fundamentally, we share an identity with them as God’s creatures. In themselves, they have value, and so we must learn to value them.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the community concluded the morning's activities with a guided silent meditation amidst nature.
