Official Visit to PNG

Rabaul, Papua New Guinea: After having arrived in Papua New Guinea (PNG), Fr. Fernando Speranza, PSDP, Fr. Marvin Tadena, PSDP, and Fr. John Christopher Acebuche, PSDP were gladly welcomed by the natives of PNG. The Papua New Guineans showed their kind hospitality to them through their vibrant smiles and vivid interactions in a way of greetings and words of appreciation.

One of the highlights of the official visit of Fr. Marvin and Fr. Fernando was their going to the old cathedral of the Diocese of Rabaul. The first MSC missionaries (from the Latin, Missionarii Sacratissimi Cordis) set foot on this diocese way back in 1886. This place is greatly significant for it reminds them of the history of how Christianity arrived and spread in Rabaul.

Grabbing this rare opportunity, they also spent some time enjoying the scenic panoramas of PNG. In particular, they enjoyed seeing the pristine beauty of Tavurvur Volcano with the company of the Papua New Guineans and the rest of PSDP religious assigned in PNG.

Aside from touring around, they had a short meeting with the finance manager of the Diocese of Rabaul who explained the financial system of the diocese. In addition, they also paid a visit to a board member of Pomio district who heartily welcomed them and even offered a sumptuous lunch for them.
