CALBAYOG CITY, Samar — In celebration of the 36th Anniversary of the PSDP Presence in the Philippines, the Calabrian Family in Calbayog conducted a meaningful Pre-Agora encounter, serving as preparation for the upcoming Agora of the Calabrian Family on June 26–28, 2026, at the PSDP Novitiate House in Cagayan de Oro.

Due to the varied schedules of community members, the Pre-Agora in Calbayog was held earlier. Despite this, the gathering became a joyful and enriching experience for all participants.

The activity gathered a total of participants composed of 16 aspirants, 3 religious, 5 Nazareth Formation House staff, 2 members of the NFH Management Board, and around 36 lay collaborators, including benefactors, friends, and ex-allieve—truly reflecting the diversity and unity of the Calabrian Family.

The activity began at around 1:30 PM with a warm welcome extended to all. At 2:00 PM, the program formally opened with a lively song and dance animation led by Fr. Jeffrey Singzon together with the aspirants.

Participants learned and joyfully sang the theme song, “One Calabrian Family,” which highlights the humble beginnings and vibrant spirit of the Calabrian Family in Calbayog. Accompanied by gestures and actions, the song created a festive and united atmosphere among all.

A Lenten recollection followed, given by Fr. Keirstin Lamparas. Centered on the theme “Abba, Father,” he reflected on Luke 15, the Parable of the Prodigal Son. He invited everyone to see not only the lost son but also the father, who is “prodigal” in mercy and forgiveness. The reflection deepened the participants’ understanding of God as a loving and provident Father who finds and restores His children.

The afternoon continued with a workshop facilitated by Fr. Jeffrey Singzon, who explained the nature and purpose of the Agora of the Calabrian Family. He also introduced the Agora logo through a creative activity called “Paint Me a Picture,” where participants expressed its meaning through tableau. The activity helped everyone grasp the message of unity and mission in a simple yet engaging way.

After a short break, the group prayed a creative Living Rosary, recited in different dialects and languages, reflecting the diversity and unity of the Calabrian Family. A photo opportunity followed in front of the Nazareth Formation House.

The encounter culminated in the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. Raymond Balaod. In his homily, he emphasized the gift of presence as a blessing. The Mass also served as a thanksgiving for the 36 years of PSDP presence in the Philippines, which continues to foster a growing sense of one family—brothers and sisters in Christ.

The celebration concluded with a fellowship dinner where everyone shared food. The aspirants presented songs, a video showcasing the life of the Calabrian Family in Calbayog, and a cultural modern-folk dance. The evening was filled with parlor games, trivia, and music, creating a joyful and vibrant atmosphere.

The event ended with gratitude and excitement for the next steps toward the Agora. Truly, it was a day of learning, deepening relationships, and celebrating faith as one united Calabrian Family.
