32 Years of Devotion: San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in Taytay Holds Feast Day
Taytay, Rizal - On September 28, 2024, San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in Taytay, Rizal, celebrated its 32nd Feast Day. Parishioners from the fifteen chapels and members of various civil groups and organizations joined the feast day as one community.
The celebration started with a procession. The procession, starting from the parish, began at 8:00am. Leaders from different chapels led the prayers and reflection. SLRP parish priest, Rev. Fr. Melchizedek De Lara, PSDP, Rev. Fr. Von Caster Calipes, PSDP, and Bro. Joric Gabasa, PSDP joined hands in preparing for the said activity.
The Holy Mass was the highlight of the day. The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by the Bishop of Antipolo, Most Rev. Ruperto C. Cruz. In his homily, Bishop Ruperto emphasized the deeper meaning of the celebration: to pray, to be obedient, and to serve.
“May panahon para sa Diyos,” he highlighted, [There must be time for God.] reflecting how San Lorenzo Ruiz served as a altar boy, scribe, and member of Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.
“Ang paglilingkod ay pag-aalay, pagbibigay,” he also emphasized. Bishop Ruperto also highlighted that San Lorenzo Ruiz has shown his obedience, he sacrificed his life. He wholeheartedly and repeatedly did it. That service must be continuously done and encompassing to all. Service must always come from the heart.
Following the Mass, lunch was served to the community. Indeed, this event served as a celebration for the 32 years of the parish that started small in a barrio in Taytay, Rizal.
The whole Parish Pastoral Council and Chapel Pastoral Council are grateful to all those people who supported this event. This year’s celebration indeed serves as a reminder to all to continue praying and serving just like San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila.
