Celebrating the Feast of St. Augustine
Cagayan de Oro City: St. Augustine is the patron saint of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. In solidarity with the local church and the civil society in this wonderful occasion, the communities of Kauswagan and Lumbia and the PSDP sisters of Carmen together with Sr. Graciela Ramseyer and Sr. Maria Rosa Girlanda convened together at Calabrian Children’s Foundation, Bayabas for the said celebration. At 9:30 AM, the Holy Mass in honor of St. Augustine was presided over by Fr. Jeffrey Singzon with Fr. Joseph Pasini and Fr. Ronaldo Eborde as concelebrants.
After the Eucharistic celebration, since there was more than an hour left before lunch time at 12 PM, some children immediately went for swimming while some were busy preparing for lunch. At 1:30 PM, a short program was initiated. It was comprised of parlor games mainly for children (e.g. Maria went to Market, fast eating, Free-throw and 3-point shooting contest, basketball game and etc.) and a birthday celebration for all the celebrants of the month of August. This included Sr. Graziela who celebrated her birthday on the same day. At 4:30 PM, they went back to their respective communities after the distribution of prizes and snacks.
