Cagayan de Oro City – St. John Vianney Theological Seminary and School of Theology held its 36th Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Exercises today, 16th of May 2025. Most Rev. Cosme Damian Almedilla, DD of the Diocese of Butuan presided over the eucharistic celebration. Other priests came to concelebrate the mass which included two priests from the Congregation of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence (Calabrians) who are now assigned in Cagayan de Oro and Archbishop Jose Araneta Cabantan, DD of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro who came as well for the eucharistic celebration.
In this graduating batch of 2024-2025, two (2) of its five (5) graduates are Calabrian religious brothers namely, Br. John Bosco Mutulu, PSDP and Br. Ardiomer Amabao, PSDP.
In his homily, Bishop Cosme expounded the thought that a “liso” (the name of the graduating batch which literally means a seed, but an acronym for Love In the Service of Others) symbolizes their academic journey sown, watered, grown, and harvested.
After the mass, the commencement exercises followed at the Arevalo Hall.
When all was done, the graduates from the PSDP congregation, their family, relatives, and guests proceeded to Calabrian Children’s Foundation, Bayabas, to have their sumptuous lunch together.
This graduation is a momentous event not only for the Calabrian Brothers, but also for most people who have witnessed their journey. This event would not have been possible without the help of so many people who contributed a lot for them to reach this significant milestone.
