Our Lady of Assumption Parish Celebrates Season of Creation

Caburan, Jose Abad Santos – Last September 7, 2025, Our Lady of Assumption Parish of Caburan inaugurated the month-long season of Creation. Each year from September 1 to October 4, the Christian family unites for this worldwide celebration of prayer and action to protect our common home. It is a special season where we celebrate God as Creator and acknowledge Creation as the divine continuing act that summons us as collaborators to love and care for the gift of all that is created. The celebration started with the devotion, 'Stations of Creation' which is similar to Station of the cross, here however specific stations draw our attention, and invite our meditation on a particular theme on creation. This devotion is based on St Francis' 'Canticle of the Creatures'.

The celebration was followed with the Holy Eucharist, presided by Fr. Mark Jergfel Dancel, PSDP the assistant parish priest. During the Mass our parishioners, led by the IP community, the Manobo and the Blaan tribe, they offered seedlings and fruit bearing trees which will be planted on the culmination of the season of creation. after the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the parishioners gathered to listen to the formation about the Season of Creation, given by Bro Jong. He explained to them the reason behind why there is Season of Creation, the theology behind it. He also explained to them this year’s LOGO together with its theme which is “Peace with Creation”, inspired by Isaiah 32:14-18.

At the end they had made a Laudato Si Circle which is a group of people that would pray and reflect on the themes of creation with the goal of ecological conversion. Overall, the inauguration was a beautiful and successful celebration, we hope that throughout the celebration we may gradually come to a true ecological conversion.
