Knights of the Altar Renew Commitment and Welcome New Members at San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish

Taytay, Rizal – September 20, 2025 – On the afternoon of September 20, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the Knights of the Altar (KOA) of San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish gathered for their Renewal and Investiture Ceremony, an event that marked a significant milestone for 32 new sacristans and 120 renewing sacristans. Organized by the Vocation Ministry of the parish and guided by Bro. Joric Gabasa, PSDP, the ceremony brought together the parish community in a celebration of faith and service.

The event was attended by the parents and family members of the young sacristans, who were there to witness and support their loved ones as they committed to their roles in the ministry.

Prior to the ceremony, the KOA members participated in several preparatory activities, including general formations and a spiritual recollection. The postulants also joined in these preparatory events, deepening their understanding of the duties and spiritual significance of serving at the altar.

The highlight of the afternoon was the Holy Mass, which was presided over by Rev. Fr. Melchizedek de Lara, PSDP. In his homily, Fr. de Lara emphasized the importance of altar service as a ministry of dedication and reverence. Despite the rain, the event proceeded smoothly, with the attendees exuding joy and gratitude for the opportunity to witness the sacristans’ commitment to serving the Church.

The organizers hope that this event will inspire the youth to continue their service to God through the altar ministry, fostering a lasting devotion to their faith and the Church.
