Calbayog City – At dawn on March 19, 2026, the Calabrian Family in Calbayog, led by the Nazareth Formation House community, walks together in a penitential journey and the Stations of the Cross at Brgy. Cagsumji, Sta. Margarita, Samar. Beginning at 5:00 AM, they prayerfully move up the mountain, reflecting at the life-size images of Christ’s passion.
The walk concludes with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in honor of the Solemnity of St. Joseph, with Fr. Fernando Esperanza, Vicar General, and Fr. Marvin Tadena, PSDP Delegate in the Philippines present.
In his homily, Fr. Jeffrey Singzon emphasizes that true righteousness is not only about following the law, but about choosing mercy, even in moments of suffering. He recalls how St. Joseph, though faithful to the law, chooses to protect Mary with compassion and quiet courage. This same spirit appears in the Stations of the Cross—while some condemn Jesus, others like Veronica, Simon of Cyrene, and the women of Jerusalem choose mercy and love.
Jesus shows that true righteousness is a love that sacrifices, suffers, and never gives up. The faithful are called to follow this path: to act with mercy, to love in difficulty, and to carry the cross with faith, walking closer to the heart of God.
