Taytay, Rizal — The Calabrian Family in Luzon, composed of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence (PSDP) priests, brothers, sisters, and lay collaborators, came together in a spirit of deep faith and unity to celebrate the nine-day Novena and Feast Day of St. John Calabria, at San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish.

The Novena, held across 14 chapels within the parish, was an expression of devotion, drawing participation from various parish organizations including WESTVYFLA, as well as teachers, staff, and students of the Calabrian Formation School. Each day of the Novena was presided over by a designated PSDP priest, allowing the faithful to experience the richness of the Calabrian charism through diverse reflections and homilies. The active involvement of all communities made the Novena a truly grace-filled journey of prayer.

On the Feast Day itself, the celebration began with a solemn procession at 8:00 AM, where the image of St. John Calabria was carried with reverence through the streets of San Lorenzo Ruiz vicinity, accompanied by joyful hymns and rosary prayers. This was followed by the Holy Eucharist at 10:00 AM, presided over by Rev. Fr. Melchizedek De Lara, Parish Priest of San Lorenzo Ruiz, and concelebrated by all PSDP priests. The church overflowed with nearly 800 faithful, including members of the Ursuline Sisters and PSDP Sisters, all gathered to honor the life of saint John Calabria who dedicated his life to serving the poor and trusting in Divine Providence.

After the Mass, the celebration continued with an Agape and Fellowship held at the Calabrian Formation School Court. It was a joyful occasion where parishioners, religious, and lay partners shared food, laughter, and stories, strengthening the bonds of community and faith.

The entire celebration was a testament to the enduring spirit of St. John Calabria, whose mission continues to inspire and guide the Calabrian Family in Luzon. As one community, they give thanks to the Lord for the gift of this humble and holy servant, and pray that his legacy may continue to flourish in the hearts of the faithful.

“Let us trust in Divine Providence and walk with courage, as St. John Calabria did.
