Calabrian Family Encounter – Calbayog Valentine Special Celebration

Calbayog City – The Calabrian Family of Calbayog gathered today for a meaningful and joyful Valentine Special Encounter, celebrating love not only in words but in communion, faith, and shared mission. The day began with registration and the warm welcome of members whose presence already reflected the spirit of unity that defines the Calabrian family.

The gathering immediately came alive through an energetic animation dance led by Fr. Jeffrey Singzon together with selected aspirants. Their lively leadership brought smiles and laughter, setting a joyful tone for the entire encounter. This was followed by the Opening Prayer and song, inviting everyone to center the celebration on God, the source of all love.

The morning formation focused on Calabrian Spirituality and was facilitated by Fr. Raymond Balaod. He expressed deep gratitude for the presence and commitment of the members and encouraged everyone to grow in deeper communion within the Calabrian mission. He reminded the community that being part of the Calabrian family means living a spirituality rooted in trust in Divine Providence, unity of heart, and service to others. His message called each one to remain faithful and active in strengthening the bonds of the Calabrian community.

After a short break and merienda, the community gathered at 11:15 AM for the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Fr. Jeffrey U. Singzon. In his homily, he reflected on the different people we love in our lives: those who make our burdens lighter, those who bring joy and happiness, and those who inspire and challenge us to become better versions of ourselves. He connected this reflection to the life of St. John Calabria, who himself was surrounded by people whose love and guidance shaped him. In time, St. John Calabria also became an inspiration and model of faith to many, especially to the Calabrian Family. The reflection reminded everyone that love forms us, strengthens us, and sends us on mission.

The celebration continued with a bountiful lunch fellowship, made special by the generous contributions of members who brought their own dishes to share. The shared meal reflected the beauty of a family that gives and receives with gratitude. Adding to the joyful atmosphere, selected aspirants serenaded the community with beautiful songs. Through music and simple conversations, hearts were united and friendships deepened.

Indeed, the Calabrian Family Encounter – Valentine Special in Calbayog was a meaningful and successful gathering. More than a celebration of Valentine’s Day, it was a celebration of faith, communion, and shared mission.
