NFH Goes ‘Green’: Season of Creation Celebration
Calbayog City: The Christian Communities of the entire world annually celebrate the Season of Creation. It starts from the 1st of September to the feast day of the Patron Saint of Ecology, St. Francis of Assisi, on the 4th of October.
Being in communion with all Christians and by way also of showing love and care for our common home, the PSDP community of Nazareth Formation House took part in prayer and action to contribute to the protection of our environment.
On the 4th of September, the first Saturday of the month, The NFH community held their mass al fresco to truly appreciate God’s creation and really take in its value and the importance of taking care of it. The main celebrant of the mass was Fr. Thomas Pichappillil with Fr. Mark Jonnel Magos as co-celebrant. And recently on the 28th of September, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of the City of Calbayog, a tree-planting activity was put-together. The LGU provided saplings of Fruit Bearing and Non-Fruit Bearing Trees. The aspirants, who were very much excited to contribute to the wellbeing of the environment, were given individual saplings to plant and take care of. After the plants, water, and tools used for planting were blessed by the Formation House Rector, Fr. Melchizedek De Lara, the aspirants went on and looked for ample spaces to plant and grow the saplings.
It is absolutely important to appreciate and care for God’s creation and our common home. We must work together to contribute to its care for the future generations. Let us all have solidarity in both prayer and action.
