Cagayan de Oro City – The Religious and postulants of the Congregation of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence (also known as Calabrians) gather today at the convent of the Calabrian Sisters in Brgy. Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City for a recollection. Fr. Miller John Masillones, PSDP facilitated the said spiritual exercise wherein he invited his confreres to reflect on the theme: “The Cross of Christ and Religious Life.”
Reflecting on the cross of Jesus, Fr. Miller explained that “Christ’s total self-giving on the cross is the model of religious self-offering… Religious life is not just about renunciation, but radical love and communion with Christ crucified.”
For the Calabrians, recollections are indispensable means of spiritual renewal. Done in the atmosphere of silence and prayer, it will greatly help religious and postulants to have a break from their usual routine and confront themselves with the Word of God and listen to the deepest recesses of their hearts where God speaks.
The recollection culminated with the eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Miller. Then, a sumptuous dinner was prepared for everyone’s fill.
Today’s recollection is, indeed, a great moment to bond together as one single Calabrian family. Calabrian priests, brothers, sisters, and postulants found this moment of communion a fruitful one. This invigorates their unity as a Calabrian family and reignites their zeal for mission of bearing witness to God’s paternity.
